Details

Standards for prison officer fitness were introduced in 2001, and all new recruits are subject to a fitness assessment to ensure a minimum standard of fitness for the job. Heart rate monitors were used to measure the aerobic demands during the fitness assessment, as well as during participation in routine work-based activities for 135 prison officers in different roles.
