Prison Safety Policy Framework

Details

This HMPPS Policy Framework sets out the mandatory requirements for staff on identifying risks of violence, self-harm, and self-inflicted death in the prison population and managing and supporting those at risk to reduce harm. It reinforces HMPPS’s commitment to make prisons safer places for everyone who lives, works in, and visits them and environments that are conducive to rehabilitation.

It replaces chapters 1-11 and 14 of PSI 64/2011 Management of prisoners at risk of harm to self, to others and from others (Safer Custody).
