Details
This qualitative study explores the perceptions of 10 prisoners who were supervised by staff trained as 5 Minute Interventionists during the early rollout of the scheme. Five Minute Intervention (FMI) training prepares prison staff to turn everyday conversations into opportunities for rehabilitation using skills such as active listening, motivational interviewing and socratic questioning. The aim is that with these FMI skills staff can take every opportunity to encourage the people in their care to strengthen their decision making skills and build a stronger sense of self-efficacy while working with hope toward positive change.
