This guidance is for appropriate national authorities, who may make regulations under section 1 of the Professional Qualifications (PQ) Act 2022.

Under section 1 of the PQ Act 2022, regulations can be made which would require a regulator to have processes in place to assess individuals with qualifications or experience gained overseas .

This guidance explains the condition in section 2 of the PQ Act, which establishes that regulations can only be made under section 1 for the purpose of enabling the demand for services of professions in the UK, or in the part of the UK to which the regulations relate, to be met without unreasonable charges or delays.
