Programme Cortisone - Vision animation transcript

Updated 16 November 2020

The vision for Programme Cortisone is to deliver a sustainable, integrated, cohesive and enduring information capability that will effectively support healthcare delivery by the Defence Medical Services.

Cortisone is an ecosystem of Healthcare Information Services that will help you generate better patient outcomes, optimise resources and maximise the number of personnel fit for role.

Cortisone is about joining up healthcare information and ensuring that information is available to the right people, in the right format, at the right time to deliver safe, effective healthcare to all patients.

All the healthcare information services you currently use (and those introduced in the future) will be linked by an Integration Platform at the heart of the ecosystem. So, you won’t need to enter the same information twice, record it once, use it many times.

The Integration Platform will improve information sharing with NHS organisations throughout the UK, so DMS personnel and patients can access a wider range of healthcare information services.

It will also integrate vital patient data from a range of currently disconnected sources such as ultrasound scanners, hearing test devices and vital signs monitors.

Cortisone’s Primary Medical Care information system will give you modern, patient focussed, GP functionality, and allow you to deliver the full range of Defence primary healthcare services. You’ll be able to record consultations, create electronic prescriptions, order tests, and efficiently manage referrals, occupational health information, appointments and practice admin.

Finally, the Cortisone ecosystem will allow you to easily capture high-quality data and turn it into useful information. It will automatically code this data and turn it into dashboards and reports, saving you hours of valuable time.

These are just some of the many benefits that Cortisone will deliver. Take a closer look at our interactive infographic and get the full picture.
