The UK supports a range of projects in Cameroon to promote democracy, human rights, youth development, peace-building, the fight against corruption, climate change, regional integration and UK-Cameroon trade and investment. It does this work in partnership with the Cameroonian government, media and local and international NGOs.
The British High Commission through its ‘Challenge Fund’ supports innovative ideas with local ownership and high impact. The fund is also used to pilot or develop larger projects for funding from other sources.
The High Commission also works on a certain number of larger projects in the thematic areas of human rights and democracy and UK-Cameroon trade and investment. These are funded by the FCO in London through the Strategic Programme Fund and the newly created Prosperity Fund.
The UK is also one of the biggest donors to the European Development Fund (EDF) which supports development work in ACP countries including Cameroon. British contribution to the 10th round of the fund (running from 2008-2013) is 31 million Euros.
All project bids should be sent to the British High Commission’s email address: bhc.yaounde@fco.gov.uk
