The Swedish Presidency of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2009 will focus on key themes of the economy and employment, climate, justice and home affairs, the EU strategy for the Baltic Sea region and the EU’s role in the world. This document provides an overview of the main policy areas which the Swedes are likely to take forward under their Presidency, as set out by their work programme (available at www.se2009.eu/en)

This Command Paper was laid before Parliament by a Government Minister by Command of Her Majesty. Command Papers are considered by the Government to be of interest to Parliament but are not required to be presented by legislation.
