Details
The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on an application Defra have received to register the name “Tewkesbury Mustard” as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
Before a decision can be made by Defra on whether to forward the application to the European Commission for the next stage of the process, we are required to consult on applications seeking registration of product names in order to give interested parties within the UK an opportunity to object to the application.
Responding to this consultation
If you wish to object to the application, you must complete the ‘Reasoned Statement of Opposition’ form and send it to protectedfoodnames@defra.gov.uk by Wednesday 13 May 2020.
You must include your legitimate interest in the proposal and specify the grounds on which your opposition is based, giving evidence where necessary. You can see what is considered an admissible objection in Article 10 of EU Regulation No. 1151/2012
Any objections submitted after Wednesday 13 May will not be considered.
After consultation
Following the closing date, all responses will be analysed and considered along with any other available evidence.
This will help us reach a decision on the final product specification seeking registration and in determining the applications suitability for the scheme.
