Details

It is a requirement under section 23 of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 that an intervention protocol be prepared, and for the Secretary of State to have regard to it in the exercise of his power of intervention.

The Secretary of State has broad powers of intervention to ensure that fire and rescue authorities are acting in accordance with the Fire and Rescue National Framework for England.
