Supported accommodation aims to support young people to develop their independence and prepare for adult life while keeping them safe in a homely and nurturing environment.

The regulations include the quality standards for supported accommodation for young people aged 16 or 17 as well as detail on the Ofsted-led registration and inspection regime.

This guidance is for:

  • local authorities
  • everyone providing supported accommodation
  • children’s social care workforce
  • relevant public sector, private and charitable sector organisations
