Public Attitudes Tracker user feedback survey 2023: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will use your personal data and your rights in relation to the Public Attitudes Tracker user feedback survey held in August 2023.

The notice is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Your data

We will process the following personal data if you choose to provide them:

  • email address
  • name

Purpose

The purpose(s) for which we are processing your personal data is:

  • to discuss responses to the user feedback survey on the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Public Attitudes Tracker (PAT) as issued in August 2023 and to help shape the work programme for the PAT
  • depending on nature of consent given, to receive updates on the PAT

The legal basis for processing your personal data is:

  • consent: you consent to us doing so by providing your email address and/ or name in either or both of the last 2 questions of the survey

Recipients

Your personal data will be shared with the statistical team responsible for the PAT work programme.

As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors who provide email and document management and storage services.

Automated decision making

Your personal data will not be subject to automated decision making.

Retention

Your personal data will be kept by us until you inform us you wish to be removed from our contact lists or until the PAT publication series ceases, whichever is soonest.

International transfers

As your personal data is stored on our IT infrastructure, and shared with our data processors, it may be transferred and stored securely outside the European Union. Where that is the case it will be subject to equivalent legal protection through the use of Model Contract Clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances, for example where accuracy is contested, to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • withdraw consent to the processing of your personal data at any time
  • request a copy of any personal data you have provided, and for this to be provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format
