Details
The main report of Public Bodies 2014 sets out an annual update of:
- progress in rationalising the public bodies landscape
- savings made through this progress
- the legacy provided by the work on sponsorship and triennial review programme, which will enable reform to continue after the public bodies reform programme is completed
Public Bodies 2014 provides a single transparent source of top-level data on all non-departmental public bodies, executive agencies and non-ministerial departments. The term ‘quango’ is sometimes used informally to describe bodies such as these. The data directory, Annex A, shows a snapshot of public bodies as of 31 March 2014 unless otherwise stated.
This information is published to make the public bodies more transparent, which in turn helps taxpayers hold decision-makers to account. Public Bodies 2014 is an online publication and the data will be updated quarterly, where applicable, for improved transparency.
