North East

Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust

Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust has been awarded £509,645 for 2 projects to decarbonise St Gregory’s Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees and Carmel College in Darlington. Air source heat pumps will be installed in both schools, and the energy efficiency of Carmel College will be improved through the installation of LED lighting, insulation and energy efficient ventilation fans.

Durham County Council

Durham County Council has been awarded £5,174,666 for 5 projects to install air source heat pumps in Peterlee Leisure Centre, Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, Teesdale Leisure Centre, Wolsingham Leisure Centre and Comeleon House office building. Solar panels will also be installed in all 4 leisure centres. A range of energy efficiency measures will be installed across the sites, including building energy management systems, LED lighting, efficient air handling units and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

Newcastle upon-Tyne City Council

Newcastle upon-Tyne City Council has been awarded £1,202,258 to decarbonise 8 buildings - 2 libraries and 6 health centres and clinics. The existing end-of-life gas boilers and hot water systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps and electric water heaters. This will be accompanied by self-generated electricity via solar panels to provide renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the buildings will be improved through heating pipework insulation and building energy management systems upgrades.

Northumberland Council

Northumberland Council has been awarded £148,210 to replace the existing fossil fuel boilers with ground source heat pumps at Whittingham First School and Aesca House office building.

Yorkshire and the Humber

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £3,729,764 to replace the gas boilers with air source heat pumps at Barnsley Hospital. In addition, the energy efficiency of the hospital will be improved through the installation of double glazing, roof insulation, and building energy management systems.

Beckfoot Trust, Bradford

Beckfoot Trust has been awarded £623,569 to replace the existing gas boilers with ground source heat pumps at Beckfoot Thornton School in Bradford.

Bradford Metropolitan District Council

Bradford Metropolitan District Council has been awarded £374,767 to decarbonise Buckden House Outdoor Education Centre. The building’s existing oil boilers will be replaced with a biomass boiler, and the energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of a building energy management system and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council has been awarded £1,728,500 to decarbonise the swimming pool at Todmorden Sports Centre. The existing heating system will be replaced with an air source heat pump and roof mounted solar panels will be installed to generate renewable energy. The hot water distribution system will also be improved to increase the energy efficiency of the sports centre.

Diocese of Leeds: South Crosland Church of England Voluntary Aided Junior School

The Diocese of Leeds has been awarded £354,418 to decarbonise South Crosland Church of England Voluntary Aided Junior School by replacing the existing oil boiler with an air source heat pump.

Enquire Learning Trust, Wakefield

Enquire Learning Trust has been awarded £310,393 to replace the existing oil boilers with an air source heat pump at Buckingham Primary Academy.

Leeds City Council

Leeds City Council has been awarded £4,335,357 to decarbonise 6 primary schools, 2 children’s centres, a day centre for the elderly, and St George’s community hub. At all sites, the existing fossil fuel systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. The energy efficiency of one of the primary schools, Seven Hills Primary School, will also be improved through the installation of loft insulation and a building energy management system.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been awarded £9,296,722 to reduce carbon emissions from St James’s Hospital. Fossil fuel heating systems will be removed from many buildings across the hospital, including the Leeds Cancer Centre, the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre and the Thackray Museum of Medicine, and the buildings will be connected to a council owned district heating network. Roof insulation, draught proofing, and double glazing will also be installed in some of the buildings to improve their energy efficiency.

Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice has been awarded £3,538,164 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Leeds Combined Court Centre and Leeds Magistrates’ Court. The two court buildings will be connected to Leeds PIPES, an established district heat scheme, and the energy efficiency will be improved through the installation of double glazing, LED lighting and insulation.

The Ministry of Justice is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in Yorkshire and the Humber.

North York Moors National Park Authority

North York Moors National Park Authority has been awarded £489,284 for 2 projects to decarbonise the Moors National Park Centre and Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, key sites which provide information to visitors about the North York Moors National Park, as well as cafes, bike hire, an art gallery and office space for staff. The existing fossil fuel heating systems at both centres will be replaced with ground source heat pumps and double glazing will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

North Yorkshire County Council

North Yorkshire County Council has been awarded £403,075 to upgrade the Castle House Day Care Centre, Malton Library, and the Nidderdale Children’s Resource Centre. In all sites, old gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps. This work supports the Council’s aspiration to become zero carbon by 2030.

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £2,272,655 to install air source heat pumps in 10 buildings of their buildings, including the main hospital, a residential home and a clinic. In addition, double glazed windows, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation will be installed to improve energy efficiency in all buildings.

Star Multi Academy Trust: Monk Fryston Church of England Primary School, Leeds

The Star Multi Academy Trust has been awarded £170,920 to decarbonise Monk Fryston Church of England Primary School in Leeds. A ground source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing fossil fuel heating system, alongside solar panels to produce renewable electricity and LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.

University of Bradford

The University of Bradford has been awarded £3,264,681 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in a range of buildings on their City Campus, including the Unique Sports Centre and JB Priestley Library. An air source heat pump, solar panels, and point-of-use electric water heaters will be installed at the sports centre, and the energy efficiency of other buildings will be improved through the installation of LED lighting, roof insulation and a building energy management system.

University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield has been awarded £3,005,091 for 3 projects to install decarbonisation measures in 7 buildings across their estate. The existing natural gas fired boilers in 5 buildings will be replaced with a ground source heat pump at the Advanced Manufacturing Park Energy Centre and with electric water heating at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. A ground source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing fossil fuel heating system in the Alfred Denny building, which houses the university’s biology facilities, and electric heating will be installed in the Elmfield building, which houses the university’s politics department.

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council has been awarded £2,028,606 to install air source pumps in Airedale Children’s Centre, Stanley Library, Queens House building, Normanton Leisure swimming pool, and the municipal offices. Solar panels and LED lighting will also be installed at the municipal offices to provide renewable energy and increase the energy efficiency.

Wickersley Partnership Trust, Aston Lodge Primary School, Sheffield

Wickersley Partnership Trust has been awarded £252,414 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Aston Lodge Primary School in Sheffield. Both an air source heat pump and a water source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide renewable energy. In addition, the energy efficiency of the school will be improved by upgrading the building energy management system.

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £9,073,412 for 2 projects to replace the existing oil boilers with air source heat pumps at Bridlington Hospital and York Hospital. Draught proofing and improved pipework insulation will also be installed at York Hospital, and solar panels, double glazing, heating pipework insulation and high efficiency motors will be installed at Bridlington Hospital.

North West

Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education

Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education has been awarded £5,145,756 to decarbonise and improve the energy efficiency of 12 primary schools. Air source heat pumps will be installed in 10 schools, ground source heat pumps will be installed in the remaining 2, and solar panels will be installed in 4 of the schools to produce renewable energy. A variety of other measures will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the schools, including draught proofing, dry wall lining, cavity wall, loft and roof insulation, double glazed windows, and LED lighting.

Cheshire College South and West

Cheshire College South and West has been awarded £1,942,272 to replace gas boilers with new air source heat pumps in their sixth form college at their Crewe campus. Solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy, and LED lighting will also be installed to improve energy efficiency.

Cheshire East Council

Cheshire East Council has been awarded £3,714,449 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 3 libraries, 3 Council offices and 7 day centres which provide a range of support services for the elderly and adults with learning disabilities and sensory impairment. Air source heat pumps, roof insulation, and building energy management systems will be installed in each of the buildings, and double glazed windows will be installed in one of the office buildings, Delamere House.

Cheshire West and Chester Council

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been awarded £2,412,421 to upgrade Whitby High School, Frodsham Manor House Primary School, and Sutton Green Primary School. Air source heat pumps will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. In addition, the energy efficiency of the buildings will be improved through the installation of roof insulation and new LED lighting. The project supports the Council’s ambitions to become net zero by 2030.

Chorley Council

Chorley Council has been awarded £285,290 to decarbonise Chorley Town Hall, a building originating from the 1880s and with a heating system which is more than 30 years old. The current heating system will be replaced with an air source heat pump and the energy efficiency of the building will be improved through the installation of double glazing, LED lighting, draught proofing, loft insulation and pipework insulation.

East Cheshire NHS Trust

East Cheshire NHS Trust has been awarded £7,039,341 to deliver heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Macclesfield District General Hospital. The hospital’s end-of-life boilers will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and roof insulation, heating pipework insulation and building energy management systems will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the hospital.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Greater Manchester Combined Authority has been awarded £18,464,797 for 2 projects. These projects will install decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures across the Greater Manchester public estate, including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, the University of Salford, the National Football Museum, Manchester University, Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre in Oldham, and Rochdale Town Hall, in addition to various assets such as community centres, libraries, leisure centres, schools, resource centres and offices. Measures to be installed include air source heat pumps, solar panels, building energy management systems, insulation, double glazed windows, and LED lighting These projects are strategically aligned to the region’s ambition to be carbon neutral by 2038.

Greater Manchester Learning Trust: Parrs Wood High School

Greater Manchester Learning Trust has been awarded £1,183,872 to upgrade Parrs Wood High School and Sixth Form College. The existing fossil fuel systems at both the high school and the sixth form will be replaced with air source heat pumps. At the high school, solar PV will be installed to provide renewable energy and energy efficiency will be improved through the installation of new LED lighting, roof insulation, double glazing and building energy management systems upgrades.

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council has been awarded £3,481,071 to deliver heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in Kirkby Leisure Centre and in Nutgrove Villa, their main Council office building. This includes the replacement of ageing gas boilers with air source heat pumps, alongside the installation of solar panels and LED lighting. This will contribute to the Council’s commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its estates and services by 2040.

Liverpool Hope University

Liverpool Hope University has been awarded £85,000 decarbonise Trinity common room, located at the university’s Aigburth Park halls of residence. The end-of-life boilers will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and roof mounted solar panels will be installed to produce renewable energy. In addition, double glazed windows will be installed, and the building energy management system will be upgraded to improve energy efficiency.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £521,714 to decarbonise Aintree University Hospital. Air source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed, alongside a variety of energy efficiency measures such as insulation, building energy management systems, hot water distribution improvement, new LED lighting and double glazing.

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £2,645,311 for 2 projects to decarbonise Rathbone Hospital and 4 health centres and clinics: Moss House, Thomas Leigh, South Sefton Neighbourhood Centre and Life Rooms Walton. Air source heat pumps will be installed at all sites, alongside the installation of solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. A range of energy efficiency measures will also be installed across the sites, including new LED lighting, loft insulation, draught proofing, ventilation, and heating pipework insulation.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded £639,331 for 4 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at their headquarters and 4 fire stations: Bromborough Station, Crosby Station, Old Swan Station, and Wallasey Station. Air source heat pumps will be installed at all 4 fire stations, alongside electric heating and building energy management systems. LED lighting will also be installed in their headquarters to improve the energy efficiency of the building, in preparation for a future move to low carbon heating.

Merseytravel, Liverpool

Merseytravel has been awarded £1,787,816 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Wallasey Way Depot. The existing gas heating system will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the depot will also be improved through upgrading the building energy management system, heating pipework improvements, draught proofing, dry wall lining and double glazing.

Nelson and Colne College, Pendle

Nelson and Colne College has been awarded £4,267,400 to decarbonise 2 buildings at Accrington and Nelson Campuses. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with ground source heat pumps. Solar PV will be installed to generate renewable power on site to offset the additional electricity needed for the heating system. In addition, loft insulation will be installed at Nelson Campus, and building energy management systems will be installed at both sites to optimise consumption of energy.

Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Sellafield

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in Sellafield has been awarded £257,472 to decarbonise the Herdus House office building. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with an air source heat pump and solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy to power the heat pump.

South Ribble Borough Council

South Ribble Borough Council has been awarded £4,968,854 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at the Council’s 6 most energy consuming buildings: Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre, South Ribble Tennis Centre, Penwortham Leisure Centre, Leyland Leisure Centre, Moss Side depot, and the Civic Centre. Electric heating will be installed at Moss Side depot, and gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps at the other 5 buildings. Solar panels will also be installed at the leisure centres and tennis centre to provide a source of renewable energy. A variety of energy efficiency measures will be installed across the buildings, including new LED lighting, high efficiency motors, variable speed drives, and an air handling unit.

Tytherington School, Macclesfield

Tytherington School in Macclesfield has been awarded £747,808 to decarbonise their main building and sports hall by replacing the existing gas boilers with air source heat pumps. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

Warrington Borough Council

Warrington Borough Council has been awarded £600,564 to replace the gas boiler at Warrington Town Hall and annex buildings with ground source heat pumps installed under the adjacent lawns and parkland. A building energy management system will also be improved to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Winstanley College, Wigan

Winstanley College has been awarded £815,693 to decarbonise their Science and Arts Block by installing an air source heat pump and water source heat pump. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

Wyre Council

Wyre Council has been awarded £999,468 to decarbonise Fleetwood Market, one of the largest markets in the North West. An air source heat pump will be installed in the market, moving it away from gas usage; solar panels will be installed; and the energy efficiency of the market will be improved through the installation of LED lighting, double glazing, roof insulation, and a building energy management system.

East Midlands

Bassetlaw District Council

Bassetlaw District Council has been awarded £1,047,500 to fully decarbonise Queen’s building, the Council’s head office and their highest energy consuming property. The existing heating system will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of double glazed windows, LED lighting, dry wall lining, floor and loft insulation, and an upgrade to the energy management system.

Church Hill Church of England Junior School, Leicester

Church Hill Church of England Junior School in Leicester has been awarded £325,127 to replace the existing heating system in their main school building with an air source heat pump. Roof mounted solar panels and a building energy management system will also be installed.

Derbyshire Dales District Council

Derbyshire Dales District Council has been awarded £598,596 to replace ageing and inefficient gas boilers at the Town Hall, the Agricultural Business Centre, and Northwood Depot with air source heat pumps and electric heating. Solar panels will also be installed at the Agricultural Business Centre and Northwood Depot to provide a source of renewable energy. Pipework insulation, LED lighting, double glazed windows, and a smart metering system to manage energy consumption will also be installed. This will contribute to their commitment to becoming a net zero Council by 2030.

Evolve Trust, Mansfield

The Evolve Trust has been awarded £328,069 to install an air source heat pump at Bramble Academy in Mansfield. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

L.E.A.D. Multi-Academy Trust: Edna G Olds Academy, Nottingham

L.E.A.D Multi-Academy Trust has been awarded £80,000 to decarbonise Edna G Olds Academy in Nottingham by replacing the existing gas-fired heating system with an air source heat pump.

Leicester City Council

Leicester City Council has been awarded £2,467,902 to decarbonise 3 primary schools, 2 leisure centres, 2 nursing residential homes, and a library. Existing fossil fuel heating systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps in all buildings and secondary glazed windows will be installed in 2 of the primary schools.

Life Multi-Academy Trust, Leicestershire

Life Multi-Academy Trust has been awarded £1,012,448 for 2 projects to decarbonise Winstanley School and Kingsway Primary School, both in Leicestershire. Air source heat pumps will be installed in both schools, and a water source heat pump will also be installed at Winstanley School. In addition, solar panels will be installed at both schools and the energy efficiency of Kingsway Primary School will be improved through the installation of a building energy management system.

Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust: Browns Church of England Primary School, South Kesteven

Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust has been awarded £284,000 to decarbonise Browns Church of England Primary School in South Kesteven. Air source heat pumps will be installed to replace the existing gas-fired boiler, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust has been awarded £130,000 to decarbonise Lindon House, the Trust’s sexual health centre. The oil-fired heating system will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and the energy efficiency of the building will be improved through the installation of double glazing, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and a remotely managed building energy management system.

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £111,500 to decarbonise the Sycamore Centre, a community mental health service and crisis centre. The current gas boilers and hot water systems will be replaced with an air source heat pump and point-of-use electric water heaters. A building energy management system will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the centre.

North East Derbyshire District Council

North East Derbyshire District Council has been awarded £1,334,286 to decarbonise Dronfield swimming pool. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy, and double glazing will be installed to improve the energy efficiency.

Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust

Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust has been awarded £20,681,575 to replace the fossil fuel heating system at Northampton General Hospital with an air source heat pump and to install roof mounted solar panels, providing a source of renewable energy to power the heat pump. The energy efficiency of the hospital will also be improved through the installation of LED lighting, insulation, and building energy management systems.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has been awarded £71,915,917 for 2 projects to decarbonise Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. Water source heat pumps will be installed at Queens Medical Centre and air source heat pumps will be installed at Nottingham City Hospital. Both sites will also install energy efficiency measures to reduce energy consumption, including heating pipework insulation and improved building energy management systems, draught proofing at Nottingham City Hospital, and double glazing and energy efficient chillers at Queens Medical Centre. These measures will help the Trust to achieve the NHS’s plan to reach net zero by 2040.

Peterborough Diocese Education Trust

Peterborough Diocese Education Trust has been awarded £2,288,197 for 6 projects to decarbonise 6 primary schools: Braunston Church of England Primary School, Oundle Church of England Primary School, Guilsborough Church of England Primary School, Blakesley Church of England Primary School, Loddington Church of England Primary School, and Trinity Church of England Primary School. Heat pumps will be installed in each of the schools, and roof mounted solar panels will be installed at 4 of the schools.

Priory Federation of Academies Trust

Priory Federation of Academies Trust has been awarded £1,700,221 to decarbonise 5 academies: The Priory City of Lincoln Academy, Lincoln School of Science and Technology, The Priory Ruskin Academy, Waddington Redwood Primary Academy, and The Priory Witham Academy. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy. Energy efficiency will be improved through the installation of cavity wall insulation and draught insulation. In addition, the heat recovery and building energy management systems will be upgraded.

South Charnwood High School, Leicestershire

South Charnwood High School in Leicestershire has been awarded £474,936 to replace their existing fossil fuel heating plant with air source heat pumps. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

Symphony Learning Trust, Leicestershire

Symphony Learning Trust has been awarded £469,568 to replace the existing fossil fuel heating system with air source heat pumps at Glen Hills Primary School in Leicestershire.

Tollbar Multi Academy Trust: Somercotes Academy, Lincolnshire

Tollbar Multi Academy Trust has been awarded £421,658 to decarbonise Somercotes Academy, a secondary school in Lincolnshire. The existing fossil fuelled boiler at the school will be replaced with an air source heat pump and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the school will also be improved through the installation of new LED lighting and a building energy management system.

West Midlands

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £52,756,179 for 2 projects to reduce emissions from Birmingham Women’s Hospital, one of only two dedicated women’s hospitals in the UK, and the Grade II listed Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Ground and water source heat pumps will be installed in both hospitals, and the energy efficiency of the buildings will be improved through the installation of cavity wall insulation and double glazing.

Goodrich Church of England Primary School, Herefordshire

Goodrich Church of England Primary School in Herefordshire has been awarded £124,158 to install an air source heat pump and to improve energy efficiency by upgrade their lighting to LED lighting.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded £144,940 to install air source heat pumps at Upton-on-Severn and Tenbury Wells Fire Stations.

Inspire Education Trust, Coventry

Inspire Education Trust has been awarded £311,909 to install an air source heat pump in Blue Coat Church of England School in Coventry, one of the few specialist music colleges in the country. In addition, the energy efficiency of the school will be improved through the installation of heating pipework insulation and a building energy management system.

Ivington Church of England Primary School, Hereford

Ivington Church of England Primary School has been awarded £126,347 to replace the existing oil-fired heating system with an air source heat pump and to install solar panels. The energy efficiency of the school will also be improved through the installation of cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, double glazing, and new LED lighting.

John Taylor Multi Academy Trust, Staffordshire

John Taylor Multi Academy Trust has been awarded £893,798 to decarbonise John Taylor High School in Staffordshire. The existing fossil fuel boilers will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of LED lighting, double glazed windows, roof and cavity wall insulation, pipework improvements and modification of the building energy management systems.

Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice has been awarded £2,168,963 to connect 2 offices of the Courts and Tribunals Service in Coventry to an established district heat network, the Coventry District Energy Scheme. LED lighting, roof insulation, heating pipework insulation, and cavity wall insulation will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

The Ministry of Justice is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in the West Midlands.

Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust has been awarded £32,948,518 to upgrade New Cross Hospital. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps in 9 of the hospital buildings, and energy efficiency will also be improved through the installation of LED lighting, heating pipework insulation, double glazing, plate heat exchangers and steam trap replacements. In addition, waste to energy incinerators and a building energy management system will be installed.

Sir Thomas Boughey High School, Staffordshire

Sir Thomas Boughey High School in Staffordshire has been awarded £622,237 to install an air source heat pump, solar panels, roof and cavity wall insulation, double glazing, heating pipework insulation, and a building energy management system.

Staffordshire County Council

Staffordshire County Council has been awarded £795,725 to install air source heat pumps and solar panels at St Leonard’s Primary School. The energy efficiency of the school will also be improved through the installation of a building energy management system, LED lighting and various insulation measures, including double glazing, roof insulation, cavity wall insulation and pipework insulation.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £35,600,137 for 4 projects to decarbonise Solihull, Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, and Good Hope Hospitals. Air source heat pumps will be installed at Solihull Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Good Hope Hospital, and electric heating will be installed at Heartlands Hospital. Solar panels will also be installed at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Good Hope Hospital to provide a source of renewable energy. A range of energy efficiency measures will be installed across the hospitals, including LED lighting, insulation, double glazing, and building energy management systems.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has been awarded £4,034,960 to decarbonise and improve the energy efficiency of the Hospital of St Cross. Air source heat pumps will be installed to replace the existing fossil fuel boiler to provide heating and hot water to the hospital estate. In addition, insulation measures will be installed to prevent heat loss, and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy, offsetting increased electricity demand from the heat pump system.

Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council

Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council has been awarded £2,600,727 to decarbonise Darlaston Leisure Centre, the Council’s largest source of carbon emissions. The existing boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy. In addition, a new building energy management system, new heating pipework insulation, LED lighting and new fans will be installed.

West Midlands Police

West Midlands Police has been awarded £259,922 to replace the gas-fired boilers at Stechford Police Station with an air source heat pump. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

Windsor Academy Trust: Cheslyn Hay Academy, Staffordshire

Windsor Academy Trust has been awarded £519,042 to replace the existing gas-fired heating system at Cheslyn Hay Academy in Staffordshire with an air source heat pump. Double glazed windows will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the academy.

Wye Valley NHS Trust

Wye Valley NHS Trust has been awarded £20,196,977 to decarbonise Hereford County Hospital. At 3 sites, gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps. Energy efficiency will be improved through installation of cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, dry wall lining and air conditioning. This supports the hospital’s goal of being net zero by 2038.

East of England

Bedford Borough Council

Bedford Borough Council has been awarded £624,918 for 2 projects, to decarbonise Brookside Residential Home and Eileen Wade Primary School. At Brookside Residential Home the existing oil boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, alongside installation of building energy management systems. Eileen Wade Primary School will also receive an air source heat pump, replacing the 25-year-old oil boiler, and the lighting control system will be upgraded. Both sites will be further upgraded through the installation of solar panels, new LED fitting, heating distribution pipework improvements and double glazing.

Bedford College Group

Bedford College Group has been awarded £2,676,701 to decarbonise the Grade II listed Bedford Sixth Form. Air source heat pumps will be installed to replace all existing fossil fuel heating boilers and water heaters. In addition, the energy efficiency of the building will be improved through the installation of roof and loft insulation and remotely managed building energy management systems.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded £593,488 to install air source heat pumps in Ampthill Community Fire Station, Leighton Buzzard Community Fire Station, Stopsley Community Fire Station, and in their Southern Area and Northern Area offices. LED lighting, cavity wall insulation, and heating pipework insulation will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust

Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust has been awarded £3,776,091 for 8 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 8 schools: Stratton Upper School, Bar Hill Primary Academy, Nene Park Academy, Stamford Welland Academy, Sawtry Junior Academy, Sawtry Village Academy, Oakley Primary Academy and The Harbour School. Air source heat pumps will be installed in each of the schools and solar panels will also be installed to provide renewable energy. A variety of measures will be installed to improve energy efficiency, including LED lighting, insulation, building energy management systems, and double glazing. These measures will contribute to the Trust’s plans to become net zero by 2030.

Cambridgeshire County Council

Cambridgeshire County Council has been awarded £1,146,861 for 2 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 5 primary schools and 4 nursery schools. An air source heat pump will be installed in each school, alongside new LED lighting, building energy management systems and heating pipework insulation to improve energy efficiency.

Cranfield University, Bedfordshire

Cranfield University has been awarded £11,279,371 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 2 aircraft hangars on their campus which house aircraft, workshops, and research facilities. An air source heat pump and a water source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. In addition, LED lighting, cavity wall insulation, draught proofing, double glazing, pipework improvements and building energy management system upgrades will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the hangars.

Essex County Council

Essex County Council has been awarded £3,247,717 to decarbonise 10 primary schools, a sixth form college, 4 nursing residential homes, 3 libraries, 3 community centres, Magnet House office building, and the Basildon Youth Offending Team building. Air source heat pumps will be installed in all the buildings, and a range of supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy measures will be installed, including double glazing, LED lighting, insulation, and solar panels.

Hartismere Family of Schools: Somerleyton Primary School, Suffolk

Hartismere Family of Schools has been awarded £602,377 to upgrade Somerleyton Primary School in Suffolk, a school originally built in 1845 and which still has a thatched roof and single glazing. The existing gas boilers in the school will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the energy efficiency of the building will be improved by installing secondary glazing, new radiators, LED lighting and a building energy management system, and improving the heating distribution pipework and loft insulation. This will reduce heat loss while retaining the thatched roof and aesthetic of the school.

Hertfordshire County Council

Hertfordshire County Council has been awarded £2,560,256 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 8 primary schools. Air source heat pumps will be installed to replace end-of-life boilers, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the schools will also be improved through the installation of LED lighting, cavity wall insulation and double glazed windows

Hockerill College Academy Trust: Hockerill Anglo-European College, Hertfordshire

Hockerill College Academy Trust has been awarded £721,806 to decarbonise Hockerill Anglo-European College. A ground source heat pump will be installed in one of their boarding houses, Thames House, and an air source heat pump will be installed in their music suite.

King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council

King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council has been awarded £211,155 to decarbonise the Grade I listed Fermoy Art Gallery and the Enterprise Works building. The gas-fired heating systems at both sites will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and wall and loft insulation will be installed to reduce heat loss from the buildings.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £910,000 to decarbonise the Cardigan Building at Southend Hospital. An air source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. The current inefficient chiller systems will be replaced with new energy efficient chillers and the existing fluorescent lighting will be replaced with new LED lighting.

St Botolph’s Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Suffolk

St Botolph’s Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School in Suffolk has been awarded £1,047,390 to replace their existing gas boiler with an air source heat pump, and to install solar panels. The energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of LED lighting, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, new radiators, and improved heating distribution pipework.

Watford Grammar School for Boys

Watford Grammar School for Boys has been awarded £435,712 to decarbonise their main school building. An air source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing gas-fired boiler, and upgrades will be made to the heating pipework and building energy management system to improve energy efficiency.

South East

Abingdon Learning Trust, Oxfordshire

Abingdon Learning Trust has been awarded £1,249,989 to decarbonise Fitzharrys School, a secondary school in Oxfordshire. The existing gas boilers in the school will be replaced with a biomass boiler, which will supply heat to the school buildings through connections to an existing site-wide district heat network. Ground mounted solar panels will also be installed on a redundant sports court, and all lighting in the school will be replaced with LED lighting. This supports the Trust’s ambition to reduce Fitzharrys School’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2028.

Ashford Borough Council

Ashford Borough Council has been awarded £2,010,500 to decarbonise Tenterden Leisure Centre and the Civic Centre, which consists of offices, the Council chambers, and the CCTV monitoring centre. At both buildings, gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps and the building energy management systems will be upgraded. At the Civic Centre, energy efficiency will also be improved through the installation of double glazing.

Berkshire College of Agriculture

Berkshire College of Agriculture has been awarded £20,993 to decarbonise their 60-year-old Greenacres building, a teaching space used to support children aged 14 to 16 who are not in mainstream school. An air source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing kerosene boiler, ending the building’s usage of fossil fuels.

Buckinghamshire County Council

Buckinghamshire County Council has been awarded £214,270 for 2 projects to replace the ageing gas boilers with air source heat pumps at Aylesbury Library and Pembroke Road Waste and Recycling Depot.

Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust

The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust has been awarded £1,380,521 for 4 projects to install air source heat pumps at Kingsnorth Church of England Primary School, Brenzett Church of England Primary School, St George’s Church of England Primary School, and St Nicholas Church of England Primary Academy. Solar panels will also be installed at each of the schools to provide a source of renewable energy.

East Sussex County Council

East Sussex County Council has been awarded £207,495 to decarbonise Herstmonceux Church of England Primary School. The existing oil boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and cavity wall insulation will be installed to improve the school’s energy efficiency.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been awarded £27,912,044 to fully decarbonise the heating at Eastbourne District Hospital, through the installation of 6 air source heat pumps. Solar panels will also be installed to generate renewable energy, and the energy efficiency of the hospital will be improved through the installation of double glazed windows, roof insulation and dry wall lining.

Eastleigh College, Hampshire

Eastleigh College in Hampshire has been awarded £452,154 to replace their existing gas boilers with air source heat pumps and to install point-of-use electric water heaters. Double glazing, LED lighting, and building energy management systems will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the college.

Government Property Agency

The Government Property Agency has been awarded £1,366,300 to decarbonise the Office for National Statistics office building in Titchfield, Hampshire. The existing fossil fuelled heating systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of a building energy management system and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

The Government Property Agency is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in South East.

Isle of Wight Council

Isle of Wight Council has been awarded £701,767 to reduce emissions from the County Hall office building by replacing the existing gas boiler with an air source heat pump. Double glazing, LED lighting and heating distribution pipework improvements will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the building.

Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford

Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford has been awarded £1,212,462 to upgrade 3 buildings: the library, Eleanor Lodge, and New Old Hall. The boiler plant heating all 3 buildings will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the energy efficiency of the buildings will be improved through the installation of insulation, and the replacement of the nearly 100-year-old single glazed windows in Eleanor Lodge with double glazing.

Medway Council

Medway Council has been awarded £4,270,429 to decarbonise 20 building across its estate - 9 leisure centres, 4 libraries, 2 health centres, Eastgate House office building, Guildhall Museum, Elaine Centre Primary school, Rochester Corn Exchange multi-purpose venue, and Strood Sports Centre. Fossil fuel heating systems in all 20 buildings will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and electric heating will also be installed in Strood Youth Centre. In addition, roof-mounted solar PV arrays will be installed at 11 buildings to provide renewable energy.

Network Rail

Network Rail has been awarded £583,131 to reduce the carbon emissions from Ashford Maintenance Delivery Unit, a former Victorian rail works building which has been repurposed to provide offices, workshops, and stores to maintain the rail network. An air source heat pump will be installed, and solar panels will be installed over some car parking spaces to provide a source of renewable energy. A building energy management system, heating pipework insulation, and controls for heating and lighting will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency.

Network Rail is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in the South East.

Oxfordshire County Council

Oxfordshire County Council has been awarded £866,894 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 5 schools and Hook Norton Fire Station. Air source heat pumps will be installed in 4 of the schools; a ground source heat pump will be installed in the remaining school; and electric heating will be installed in Hook Norton Fire Station. In addition, insulation will be installed in 4 of the schools to improve their energy efficiency.

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has been awarded £1,566,590 to decarbonise 5 primary schools: Courthouse Junior School, Oakfield First School, Alexander First School, Boyne Hill Church of England Infant and Nursery School, and Braywood First School. Ground source heat pumps will be installed in Courthouse Junior School, Oakfield First School, Alexander First School. Air source heat pumps will be installed in Boyne Hill Church of England Infant and Nursery School, and Braywood First School. Solar panels will be installed in all the schools except Courthouse Junior School. A range of energy efficiency measures will also be installed, including insulation, double glazing, and heating pipework improvements.

Sir William Ramsay School Academy Trust, High Wycombe

Sir William Ramsay School Academy Trust has been awarded £1,600,172 to decarbonise Sir William Ramsay School in High Wycombe. The existing fossil fuel heating system will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy.

South East Surrey Schools Education Trust: The Ashcombe School, Dorking

South East Surrey Schools Education Trust has been awarded £605,212 to decarbonise the Ranmore building at the Ashcombe School in Dorking. Air source heat pumps will be installed, and the energy efficiency of the school will be improved through the installation of heating pipework insulation and improvements to the building energy management system.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, Southampton

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £497,762 to replace the existing gas boilers at Southfields Hospital with air source heat pumps.

Surrey County Council

Surrey County Council has been awarded £2,652,340 for 4 projects to decarbonise 4 libraries, 2 fire stations, 2 infant schools, 3 primary schools, 2 youth centres, Surrey Arts building, Keswick Care Home, and Rylston Registry Office. Air source heat pumps will be installed at all the sites and solar panels will also be installed at Keswick Care Home to provide a source of renewable energy. A variety of energy efficiency measures will also be installed in some of the buildings, including LED lighting, double glazing, and insulation.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £369,708 to replace gas boilers with air source heat pumps in the building housing Chailey Clinical Services, a facility providing specialist services for children and young people with complex neurodisability. The energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of draught proofing and motor controls for the heat pump.

Three Rivers District Council

Three Rivers District Council has been awarded £375,493 to decarbonise Three Rivers House, a three-floor public building providing office space for the Council and Rickmansworth Police. The existing boiler will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and double glazed windows and cavity wall insulation will be installed to improve the building fabric and to reduce heat loss. In addition, ventilation controls will be installed to regulate air flow in the building and an energy efficient cooling system will be installed.

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has been awarded £1,419,440 for 2 projects to decarbonise Weald Sports Centre, the third largest contributor to the Council’s carbon footprint, and North Farm Depot, a multi-use site providing office space and waste and grounds maintenance services. At both sites, the existing boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy and building energy management systems will be upgraded. New LED lighting will also be fitted at Weald Sports Centre.

University of Oxford

The University of Oxford has been awarded £847,114 to decarbonise the Edward Penley Abraham Laboratory, part of the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. The existing steam boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the energy efficiency of the laboratory will be improved through the installation of cavity wall insulation, dry wall lining, roof insulation, and draught proofing.

University of Surrey

The University of Surrey has been awarded £4,028,190 to install an air source heat pump to power the heat network at their Stag Hill campus, which supplies heat to 23 of the university’s largest teaching buildings.

West Oxfordshire District Council

West Oxfordshire District Council has been awarded £1,293,361 to decarbonise Carterton Leisure Centre. An air source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. In addition, the energy efficiency of the leisure centre will be improved through adding a heat recovery system to the pool, installing more efficient air filters, insulating the pipework, and installing a building energy management system.

Wokingham Borough Council

Wokingham Borough Council has been awarded £1,026,245 for 2 projects to install air source heat pumps at Arborfield Leisure Centre, St Crispin’s Leisure Centre and the Old School, a Grade II listed building in Twyford which is currently being converted into a library. Energy efficiency will also be improved at the Old School by installing double glazing, LED lighting, and cavity, wall, roof, and floor insulation.

Wolfson College, University of Oxford

Wolfson College at the University of Oxford has been awarded £1,183,950 to decarbonise its 27 halls of residence buildings, some of which are up to 100 years old. 26 of the 44 gas boilers heating the buildings will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the energy efficiency of the buildings will be improved through the installation of double glazing, insulation, and hot water distribution improvements.

South West

Arts University Bournemouth

Arts University Bournemouth has been awarded £769,043 to reduce the carbon emissions of the university campus. The old gas boilers at the plant room in the North Building will be replaced with air source heat pumps.

Bristol City Council

Bristol City Council has been awarded £614,681 to install air source heat pumps in Blaise Primary School and Dean Field Studies Centre, an outdoor education centre in the Forest of Dean. Solar panels, heating pipework insulation and heating distribution pipework improvements will also be installed at both sites to provide a renewable source of energy and improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Crofty Multi Academy Trust, Cornwall

Crofty Multi Academy Trust in Cornwall has been awarded £366,624 to decarbonise Weeth Community Primary School, Porteath Primary School and Lanner Primary School by replacing the current, inefficient gas-fired heating systems with air source heat pumps. All schools will also benefit from the installation of solar panels, double glazing, LED lighting and hot water distribution improvements. These measures will improve the energy efficiency of the school buildings.

Dorset Police

Dorset Police has been awarded £149,018 to install an air source heat pump in their new headquarters, which is currently under construction in Winfrith. Solar panels will also be installed on the roof to provide a source of renewable energy.

Exmoor National Park Authority

Exmoor National Park Authority has been awarded £115,211 to reduce carbon emissions from Pinkery Outdoor Education Centre, a centre providing residential courses for schools and groups to learn about the national park. The centre is off-grid and has no mains gas, electricity, or water, and currently contributes roughly 20 percent of the Authority’s emissions. The old oil boiler currently providing heat to the centre will be replaced with a biomass boiler, and solar panels will be installed to provide renewable electricity to power the building. Double glazing, LED lighting and a building energy management system will also be installed to reduce the building’s energy consumption.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £10,964,253 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The existing fossil fuelled heating systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps. Energy efficiency will be improved through the installation of dry wall lining, roof insulation, steam trap replacements, and heating controls.

Government Property Agency

The Government Property Agency has been awarded £191,896 to install an air source heat pump at Rivers House office building in Dorset. The energy efficiency of the building will also be improved through the installation of a building energy management system and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

The Government Property Agency is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in South West.

Lighthouse Schools Partnership, Bristol

The Lighthouse Schools Partnership in Bristol has been awarded £1,133,486 to install air source heat pumps and solar panels at 8 schools. Roof insulation will also be installed at 3 of the schools to improve their energy efficiency.

Mid Devon District Council

Mid Devon District Council has been awarded £2,835,102 for 2 projects to replace gas boilers with air source heat pumps at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre and Exe Valley Leisure Centre. In addition, solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy to power the heat pumps, and energy efficient LED lighting will be installed on the all-weather pitches and tennis courts.

Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice has been awarded £2,967,462 to upgrade the central block at HMP Eastwood Park, a closed women’s prison built in the 1960s and located in rural Wotton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire. The existing oil-fired boilers in the central block will be replaced with an air source heat pump. Energy efficiency will be improved in a number of ways, including upgrading the building energy management systems, and installation of high efficiency motors, cavity wall insulation and energy efficient transformers.

North Bristol NHS Trust

North Bristol NHS Trust has been awarded £4,374,693 to decarbonise 10 buildings at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, including the antenatal clinic, the postnatal ward, and the neonatal intensive care unit. Water source heat pumps and air source heat pumps will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. A range of measures will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the hospital, including LED lighting, double glazing, and insulation.

Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire has been awarded £1,329,000 to install heat pumps in Gloucestershire Tri Emergency Centre, Coleford Police Station, and Stroud Police Station. The energy efficiency of the buildings will also be improved through the installation of double glazing, draught proofing, loft insulation and distribution pipework improvements.

Palladian Academy Trust, Bath

Palladian Academy Trust has been awarded £1,029,574 for 2 projects to decarbonise St Martin’s Garden Primary School and Ralph Allen Secondary School, both in Bath. The existing heating systems in both schools will be replaced with air source heat pumps and a new electric hot water system will be installed, alongside improvements to the heating distribution pipework to improve energy efficiency.

Petroc College, Devon

Petroc College has been awarded £4,671,235 to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in their campuses in Barnstaple in North Devon and Tiverton in mid Devon. The existing gas boilers in 2 buildings will be replaced with ground source heat pumps and solar PV will be installed to generate renewable power on site to offset the additional electricity loads needed for the heating system. In addition, cavity wall insulation and new building energy management systems will be installed to optimise energy consumption. This supports the college’s ambition of becoming net carbon neutral by 2035.

Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £1,061,830 to decarbonise two sites: Wincanton Community Hospital, which provides inpatient services, outpatient services and a base for the community nurse team; and Priorswood Medical Records building, a warehouse providing paper medical records storage and office space. The existing fossil fuel heating systems will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. A range of measures will also be installed to improve energy efficiency, including insulation, LED lighting, metering, and building energy management systems upgrades.

South Devon College

South Devon College has been awarded £2,121,959 to decarbonise Vantage Point, the college’s main campus, and the University Centre campus. An air source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide a source of renewable energy. A building energy management system will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the college.

University of Exeter

The University of Exeter has been awarded £60,700 to install an air source heat pump at Byrne House, a Grade II listed building which houses Egenis, the Centre for the Study of Life Sciences.

University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire has been awarded £3,359,461 to install air source heat pumps in their new City Campus in Gloucester city centre. Double glazed windows and dry wall lining will also be fitted to improve the energy efficiency of the building.

University of Plymouth

The University of Plymouth has been awarded £364,221 to decarbonise their university campus. A ground source heat pump will be installed in their Nancy Astor building to replace the existing gas boilers, and an air source heat pump will be installed in their Inter City Place building. Solar panels will be installed on Nancy Astor building and Portland Square building to provide a source of renewable energy.

Wiltshire Council

Wiltshire Council has been awarded £961,753 to replace ageing gas boilers with biomass boilers at Monkton Park Office, Lime Kiln Leisure Centre, and Warminster Sports Centre. This will support the Council in achieving their target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £9,864,109 to decarbonise Yeovil District Hospital. An air source heat pump will be installed to replace the existing end-of-life combined heat and power unit, and the energy efficiency and patient environment will also be improved through the installation of a building energy management system, LED lighting, and double glazing.

Greater London

Christ’s College, Finchley

Christ’s College Finchley, a secondary school in East Finchley, has been awarded £1,942,000 to replace their existing heating system with air source heat pumps. The energy efficiency of the school will also be improved through the installation of insulation, draught proofing, heating pipework insulation, and improvements to the hot water distribution systems.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust has been awarded £2,498,202 to decarbonise Croydon Hospital, including the Postgraduate Medical Centre, the Genitourinary Medicine building, and the Birth Centre. An air source heat pump will be installed, alongside a variety of energy efficiency measures, including roof insulation, double glazing, a building energy management system, and improvements to the heating distribution pipework improvement.

Harris Federation, Croydon

Harris Federation has been awarded £1,297,680 to decarbonise 4 primary academies: Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park, Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace, Harris Primary Academy Kenley, and Harris Primary Academy Orpington. Air source heat pumps will be installed in all 4 schools, and roof mounted solar panels will be installed at the academies in Crystal Palace, Kenley and Orpington to provide a source of renewable energy. In addition, LED lighting and building energy management systems will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the schools.

Hive Education Trust, Islington

Hive Education Trust has been awarded £664,436 to replace the end-of-life fossil fuel heating system at St Mary Magdalene Academy in Islington with an air source heat pump, and to install LED lighting to improve the energy efficiency.

Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £4,096,635 to install air source heat pumps at Homerton University Hospital’s Mental Health Unit. Solar panels will also be installed to provide a source of renewable energy, and a building energy management system will be installed to improve energy efficiency.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has been awarded £22,990,057 for 2 projects to install an air source heat pump at Hammersmith Hospital and an air source heat pump and two water source heat pumps at Charing Cross Hospital. A range of energy efficiency measures will also be installed at both hospitals, including LED lighting, cavity wall insulation, pipework insulation, and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine

Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine has been awarded £12,293,654 to remove the steam powered heat network at their South Kensington Campus, and to connect the affected buildings to a low temperature hot water heat network.

Jewish Community Academy Trust, London

Jewish Community Academy Trust in London has been awarded £674,831 to replace end-of-life fuel heating systems with air source heat pumps in Hertsmere, Sacks Morasha and Wolfson Hillel Jewish Primary Schools. Solar thermal, draught proofing and heating pipework insulation will also be installed in all 3 schools, and solar panels will be installed in Hertsmere Jewish Primary School.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £829,411 to connect the Ruskin building, which houses most of the hospital’s neurology wards, to the existing district heating system at the Denmark Hill Campus. The existing lighting will also be replaced with new LED lighting to improve the energy efficiency of the building.

London Borough of Barnet

London Borough of Barnet has been awarded £5,956,396 for 2 projects to decarbonise 20 primary schools and 2 secondary schools, Moss Hall Nursery, Parkfield Children’s Centre, New Park House Children’s Home, and a nursing residential home. The existing fossil fuel heating systems in all the sites will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels will be installed at 15 sites to provide renewable energy. A variety of energy efficiency measures will also be installed across the sites, including heating pipework insulation, draught proofing and double glazing.

London Borough of Bromley

London Borough of Bromley has been awarded £465,916 to install air source heat pumps and electric heating at Southborough Primary School, which will reduce the school’s carbon emissions from heat generation by 60%. Heating pipework insulation will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the school.

London Borough of Camden

London Borough of Camden has been awarded £2,071,329 for 5 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at Swiss Cottage Library, Talacre Community Sports Centre, and 3 schools: Eleanor Palmer Primary School, Primrose Hill Primary School, and Acland Burghley School. Air source heat pumps will be installed on all sites; electric heating will be installed at the three schools, and solar panels will be installed at Talacre Community Sports Centre. A variety of energy efficiency measures will also be installed across the sites, including roof and loft insulation, LED lighting, building energy management systems, and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

London Borough of Ealing

London Borough of Ealing has been awarded £7,222,411 for 2 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures across 6 primary schools, 2 secondary schools and 6 nursing residential homes. Air source heat pumps, solar panels, solar thermal, heating pipework insulation, and draught proofing will be installed in all 8 schools, and ground source heat pumps will be installed in the nursing residential homes.

London Borough of Hounslow

London Borough of Hounslow has been awarded £2,397,945 to install air source heat pumps and solar thermal in 6 primary schools and 4 secondary schools. A range of energy efficiency measures will also be installed across the schools, including LED lighting, draught proofing and pipework insulation.

London Borough of Islington

London Borough of Islington has been awarded £1,276,683 for 3 projects to install air source heat pumps and solar panels at Islington’s Waste and Recycling Centre office and New Park Day Centre for the elderly, and to install a ground source heat pump at New River College, a referral unit that provides support for pupils who are not able to attend mainstream school. A range of other energy efficiency measures will be installed at the sites, including double glazed windows, LED lighting and heating controls.

London Borough of Lambeth

London Borough of Lambeth has been awarded £1,431,250 for 2 projects to install heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures at the Brixton Recreation Centre swimming pool, Upper Norwood Library and the Waterloo Action community centre. Air source heat pumps will be installed at all sites, alongside LED lighting, double glazing, insulation and building energy management systems. Solar panels will also be installed at Brixton Recreation Centre and Upper Norwood Library to provide a source of renewable energy.

London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames

London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames has been awarded £3,344,949 to install a range of heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures in 5 schools, Whitton Community Centre, the Civic Centre, a hostel providing temporary accommodation, and the Disability Action and Advice Centre. Air source heat pumps will be installed in each of the buildings and a range of measures will be installed to provide renewable energy and improve the energy efficiency, including solar panels, LED lighting, insulation and building energy management systems.

Metropolitan Police Service

The Metropolitan Police Service has been awarded £1,816,087 for 2 projects to replace oil and gas boilers with heat pumps at Brixton Police Station and Gilmour Section House service residence. The heating distribution pipework will also be improved at Brixton Police Station, and LED lighting and roof insulation will be installed at Gilmour Section House.

Royal Borough of Greenwich

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has been awarded £1,917,826 to upgrade 11 primary schools. The existing boilers in all schools will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and solar panels will be installed to provide a source of renewable energy. The energy efficiency of the buildings will also be improved through installing heating pipework insulation and draught proofing.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew have been awarded £4,484,128 for 2 projects to decarbonise Nash Conservatory, a Grade II listed building, and Jodrell Laboratory. In both buildings, existing gas and oil boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps and all lighting will be upgraded to new LED lighting. Draught proofing will also be installed at the Nash Conservatory, and solar panels and ventilation will be installed at the Jodrell Laboratory.

Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London has been awarded £260,050 to decarbonise East Block, a mixed-use building containing a library, a computer suite, offices, meeting rooms, a student common room and a bar. The existing gas-fired boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, and the air handling unit will be upgraded to improve the energy efficiency of the building.

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £511,704 to install air source heat pumps and LED lighting at several sites, including their main hospital building, a staff education centre, a recreation centre, a GP surgery, and Anne Bryans House, which provides residential accommodation for the Trust’s employees.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £889,054 to decarbonise 3 buildings at Bethlem Royal Hospital: Monks Orchard, Chelsham House and River House. The existing gas boilers at Monks Orchard and Chelsham House will be replaced with air source heat pumps, supported by the installation of solar panels on the roofs of the 3 buildings to provide renewable energy. This will support the Trust in achieving its net zero target by 2040.

Southwark Diocesan Board of Education, London

Southwark Diocesan Board of Education has been awarded £2,801,773 to decarbonise 10 primary schools and a secondary school, St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls. Air source heat pumps and solar thermal will be installed in all the schools, alongside a range of other measures including solar panels, heating pipework insulation and draught proofing.

St Matthias Church of England Primary School, London

St Matthias Church of England Primary School in London has been awarded £1,284,782 to replace their fossil fuel heating system with air source heat pumps, as well as to install solar panels to generate renewable energy. In addition, dry wall lining and roof insulation will be installed to reduce heat loss from the school.

United Colleges Group, London

United Colleges Group has been awarded £814,938 to decarbonise City of Westminster College in London. An air source heat pump and water source heat pump will be installed, alongside solar panels to provide renewable energy. Heating pipework insulation will also be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the college.

University College London

University College London has been awarded £680,000 to connect a group of Georgian townhouses on their Bloomsbury campus to the existing district heating network. This will support the University’s ambition to achieve its net zero target by 2030.

University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich has been awarded £1,101,576 to install an air source heat pump to heat 5 buildings at Avery Hill Campus, including a student halls of residence building, conference facilities, and teaching buildings.

University of West London

The University of West London has been awarded £285,086 to replace the existing gas-fired boilers with an air source heat pump in Villiers House building. Villiers House is a 9-storey multi-purpose building which provides a range of university facilities, including classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, dance studios, music rooms and an IT room.

Wandsworth Borough Council

Wandsworth Borough Council has been awarded £3,154,523 to decarbonise 2 leisure centres, 6 primary schools, and Ernest Bevin College secondary school and sixth form. Air source heat pumps will be installed in all the buildings; solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy; and LED lighting and insulation will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Across regions

Department for Work and Pensions

The Department for Work and Pensions has been awarded £7,343,843 to decarbonise 20 office buildings across the country. The existing gas boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps in all the buildings. Roof insulation will also be improved in 6 buildings, including a total roof replacement for one building, alongside double glazing in 4 buildings.

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport, has been awarded £715,926 to upgrade 4 multi-purpose test centres and 2 goods and vehicle test stations across the country. The existing fossil fuel boilers will be replaced with air source heat pumps, solar panels will be installed to provide renewable energy, and loft insulation will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Scotland

Government Property Agency

The Government Property Agency has been awarded £330,737 to install air source heat pumps in Abercrombie and Alba office buildings in East Kilbride. The energy efficiency of the buildings will also be improved through the installation of building energy management systems and improvements to the heating distribution pipework.

The Government Property Agency is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in Scotland.

Network Rail

Network Rail has been awarded £207,284 to decarbonise Cathcart Electrical Control Room, which monitors and controls the overhead wires and supporting infrastructure for all Scottish rail lines. The existing gas boiler will be replaced with an air source heat pump, and LED lighting and roof insulation will also be installed to improve energy efficiency.

Network Rail is based in Greater London and will invest this funding in Scotland.

Northern Lighthouse Board

The Northern Lighthouse Board, the general lighthouse authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, has been awarded £27,000 to decarbonise the three office buildings at Firth View Complex by replacing the existing gas boiler with an air source heat pump and point-of-use electric water heaters.
