The PCA was invited to attend the BII’s Accredited Advisers Forum in September and to give a presentation. The Forum was attended by members of the BII panels of accredited trade accountants, chartered surveyors and solicitors.
Fiona Dickie’s presentation covered:
• The important place that quality independent professional advice from trade specialists has in delivering Parliament’s intention for the Pubs Code.
• The Code duties placed on regulated pub-owning business at key points to advise / require tenants (and negotiating tenants) to take professional advice.
• The results of the PCA’s 2024 Tied Tenants Survey
• Trigger Events – the conditions for a trigger event (which entitles tenant to request Rent Assessment and is one of 4 MRO gateways) and how to support tied tenants through their advisers to understand and access this right.
