Details

The ‘National Service Framework for Older People’ sets quality standards for health and social care. It will help older people to stay as healthy, active and independent as possible, for as long as possible.

The NSF for older people will:

  • ensure that older people are treated with respect
  • prevent unnecessary hospital admission, and support early discharge
  • reduce long term illness by providing specialist care
  • promote healthy lifestyles and independence for those in older age
