Details

This report sets out the Public Health England (PHE) recommended methodology for operators, when assessing the potential consequences of radiation emergencies at sites.

The methodology is designed to meet the requirements in schedule 3 of the Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations 2019 (REPPIR).

The report includes:

  • methodology assumptions
  • guidelines on application
  • methods of calculation
  • outputs from the methodology

It is intended to assist operators with making recommendations to local authorities, on emergency planning requirements and outline planning zones that differ from the default distance (if required).
