Details

During 2007 there were 25 accidents and incidents, involving the transport of radioactive materials from, to, or within the UK, and this report includes descriptions of each event. The figures for earlier years are as follows:

  • 27 events in 2006
  • 16 events in 2005
  • 20 events in 2004

In 2006 and 2007 there was an increase in the number of events (9 in 2007) involving the discovery of radioactive material in supposedly non-radioactive shipments. None of the events in 2007 resulted in any significant radiation doses to workers or members of the public.

The details have been entered into the Radioactive Material Transport Event Database (RAMTED),
