Details

The Radioactive Substances Provisional Common Framework has been developed collaboratively by the:

  • UK government
  • Scottish Government
  • Welsh Government
  • Northern Ireland Executive

It aligns with the common framework principles agreed at the Joint Ministerial Committee on EU Negotiations (JMC(EN)).

The framework provides governance mechanisms to ensure that the UK government and devolved governments can work together to maintain or improve on current standards for radiological protection, to develop common policy and manage potential divergence in a way that respects the devolution settlements.

It is underpinned by a Concordat setting out principles for collaborative working between the 4 governments, building on the existing positive relationships.
