Marine noise made by human activities is increasing in our seas and can interfere with or obscure the ability of marine animals to hear natural sounds. 

Across the UK, we are taking action to tackle marine noise. 

This policy paper sets out Defra’s ongoing work and upcoming plans to minimise noise in our seas.
