Details

This document sets out the rules and regulations for all qualifications which are part of the qualifications and credit framework (QCF).

You may not need to follow all the rules in this document.

Awarding organisations only need to follow the following rules:

  • all requirements in ‘Section 1. The design specifications of the QCF
  • requirements 3.2 to 3.3 (see ‘Section 3. Requirements for organisations developing and submitting units to form part of accredited qualifications’)
  • requirements 4.2 to 4.4 (see ‘Section 4. Requirements for organisations developing rules of combination for accredited qualifications’)
  • requirements 5.3, 5.6 h & I, 5.11 c, d and g, and 5.12 to 5.14 (see ‘Section 5. Requirements for Awarding Organisations’)

Unit and rules of combination submitters that are not recognised awarding organisations must follow all the rules.

Future changes

Following an earlier consultation, we have decided we will be withdrawing the rules for the QCF. We are now consulting on new, simpler rules which would replace parts of the QCF.
