Remit letter to the National Infrastructure Commission

The Chancellor has issued a remit letter to the National Infrastructure Commission, which includes a binding fiscal remit.

Details

The Chancellor has written a public letter to the National Infrastructure Commission Chair, Lord Adonis. This letter provides the Commission with guidance for its upcoming National Infrastructure Assessment. The letter also sets the Commission a binding fiscal remit, which states that the Commission’s recommendations must be consistent with gross public investment in economic infrastructure of between 1.0% and 1.2% of GDP in each year between 2020 and 2050.
