Remote working has become widely accepted in the UK for many years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it was briefly the dominant working mode. Since the end of the pandemic, levels of remote working are still more significant than before, however, it is not clear whether a ‘new normal’ has been or will be reached.
This report focuses on how increasing levels of remote working will affect the agglomeration benefits arising from different types of transport schemes.
It indicates increased levels of remote working will tend to reduce the benefits of transport improvements. However, this will depend on the type of transport scheme used and if land use distributions respond well to remote working.
