This document contains the following information: Report of the Animal Procedures Committee for 2007.

The report covers the work of the Animal Procedures Committee and its various sub-committees - Applications, Primates, Research and Alternatives, Education and Training, Housing and Husbandry - and the Suffering and Severity Working Group, Schedule 1 Working Group, Revision of Directive 86/609 Working Group. The Committee also considered three issues arising from the Home Office Simplification Plan and Better Regulation Programme and offered advice on: personal licensing and mandatory training; release criteria for genetically altered animals; guidelines for best practice in relation to ethical review processes.

The report concludes with the Committee’s work plan for 2008.

This paper was laid before Parliament in response to a legislative requirement or as a Return to an Address and was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons.
