Details

The attached spreadsheet presents the following comparisons between summer 2020 and 2019 results in England by JCQ subject group:

  • GCSE full course, all ages
  • GCSE short course, all ages
  • GCSE full course, 16-year-olds
  • GCSE all grades from 9 to 1, all ages
  • GCSE all grades 9 to 1, 16-year-olds
  • A level, all ages
  • AS, all ages

Notes

  1. GCSE science double award counts as 2 GCSE entries. These entries are counted twice in both the subject and overall figures.
  2. AS and A level ‘other sciences’ includes all science subjects except biology, chemistry and physics.
  3. AS and A level ‘other modern languages’ includes all languages except French, German, Irish, Spanish and Welsh.
  4. The following JCQ subject groups cover a range of related subjects: art and design subjects, classical subjects, and media, film and TV studies.
  5. The 2019 results data is taken from the data tables published by JCQ. Individual subject groups are only listed where they were available in both 2019 and 2020. The total figures include all subjects available in each year.
