Details
The British Antarctic Territory (BAT) is reviewing its legislation in order to update and modernise it.
These proposed changes relate to the Marriage and Registration Ordinances and look to bring them into line with domestic UK changes such as same sex marriage. The new legislation will allow both for the purchase of licences to conduct marriages and the purchase of a marriage licence in order for a marriage to take place.
We are now undertaking a 2-month consultation period for these proposed changes. If you have any comments on the attached documents please email them to polarregions@fco.gov.uk by 30 September 2016.
