This report is part of the Review’s data publication series.
The report explores the experiences of advocates who represent civil legal aid users in court and tribunals. It delves into the factors that influence solicitors’ selection of an advocate, the incentives and disincentives that advocates experience to work on civil legal aid, and their perspectives on the sustainability of civil legal aid advocacy. The research was conducted by an external contractor, IFF Research.
The research approach entailed qualitative interviews with advocates (barristers and non-barristers) and instructing solicitors across England and Wales.
