Details

During September and October 2023, a survey was commissioned by the Ministry of Justice and run by PA Consulting as part of the Review of Civil Legal Aid’s economic analysis workstrand. This survey with civil legal aid providers delved into provider experiences, pain points, and what incentivises them to provide civil legal aid.

The economic analysis workstream aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the civil legal aid market to assess how it is currently working and what is driving problems and gaps in the market, as well as exploring structural changes that could be made to ensure a more efficient and effective civil legal aid system. The survey was an important piece of primary evidence gathering, which has identified several important trends across the sector. We would like to extend our thanks to all the providers, and practitioner groups, who fed into the survey.

The results of this survey are being carefully considered along with all of the evidence being gathered as part of RoCLA. This information and evidence will be the basis upon which policy options will be developed.
