Details

This Statutory Direction for Blackpool Council was revoked on 21 May 2024.

This revised direction requires that the council continues to improve its children’s social care services. This includes co-operating with the Department for Education’s appointed commissioner, Helen Lincoln.

We appointed the commissioner following a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of Blackpool’s children’s social care services to be inadequate.

An independent report by the Commissioner of Children’s Services in Blackpool recommended that the council should retain the operational control of its children’s services.

This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in March 2019.
