Details
This direction requires the council to:
- continue to co-operate with the commissioner appointed by the Secretary of State for Education
- accept support provided by Stockport and Essex Partners in Practice whilst a formal partnership is secured
It follows publication of:
- a report by Ofsted, which judged the overall effectiveness of Stoke-on-Trent’s children’s social care services as inadequate
- an independent report by Eleanor Brazil, Stoke-on-Trent Children’s Services Commissioner
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council on 16 May 2019.
This direction has closed. A revised direction issued by DfE on 13 March 2020 replaces it.
