This revised direction requires the council to continue taking steps to improve its children’s social care services. This includes co-operating with the Department for Education’s appointed adviser.
This direction follows an independent report by the Commissioner for Children’s Services in Surrey published on 20 December 2019. The report recommended that the council should retain the operational control of its children’s services.
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in October 2018.
