Richard Castle: application made to abstract water

Richard Castle has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Application reference NPS/WR/037741 is for a licence to abstract water from the Ivy Creek tributary of the Yantlet Creek at Stoke, Rochester, Kent at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 84717 76339 to transfer it to NGR TQ 84731 76343 at Stoke, Rochester, Kent without intervening use.
Abstraction will take place between 01 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be diverted into drainage ditches for subsequent abstraction into a winter storage reservoir. The water will be used from the reservoir for the purpose of wetland support.
Richard Castle has also applied for a full licence, application reference NPS/WR/040349, to abstract water from Stoke, Rochester, Kent between NGR TQ 85356 76475 and NGR TQ 85234 76477.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 100 cubic metres an hour
- 2,400 cubic metres a day
- 30,850 cubic metres a year
- between November and March inclusive in each year.
The water will be abstracted into a winter storage reservoir and subsequently used for the purpose of wet fencing and other wetland support.
The proposed abstraction lies within the Medway Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
