Details

The RTPHA was constituted in 1982 by the River Tees Port Health Authority Order 1982 to deal with public health (including some aspects of food inspection), waste disposal and the control of pollution within the port.

The RTPHA Order 2016 updates and replaces the existing 1982 Order and enables the authority to continue to deal with public health matters within the port.

Health minister, Jane Ellison MP, stated:

In my view, and having had regard to ‘Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 – Statutory Guidance for departments’, it is not appropriate to make provision requiring the review of the provisions of The River Tees Port Health Authority Order 2016. Such a provision would be disproportionate taking into account the economic impact of this local Order.
