The Thames registration byelaws 1953

Part 4: General
10. Tolls for ferries
There shall be paid to the ferrymen or other authorised persons for every time of passing across the Thames by a ferryboat belonging to the Conservators the following sums namely:
- for every person - 2d.
- for every bicycle or tricycle (in addition to the toll on the person accompanying the same) - 2d.
- for every horse - 6d.
- for every carriage wagon cart or other similar vehicle not mechanically propelled (in addition to the toll on the horse and occupants of the vehicle) - 6d.
- for every motor cycle (in addition to the toll on the person accompanying the same) - 6d.
- for every motor car (in addition to the toll on the occupants thereof) - 1s.
11. Evasion of ferry or lock tolls
No person shall elude or evade or attempt to elude or evade the payment of any toll for the time being payable for the passage across the Thames by a ferry boat belonging to the Conservators or for the passage of any pleasure boat through by or over any lock on the Thames.
12. Penalty for breach of byelaws
a) Any person contravening the provisions of these byelaws shall for every such offence be liable to a penalty not exceeding £10 and in the case of a continuing offence to a further daily penalty not exceeding the like amount which said penalties shall be recoverable enforced and applied according to the provisions of the acts of 1932 and 1950.
b) When any offence against the provisions of these byelaws is committed in respect of any vessel the person in charge and the owner of the vessel shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished provided that the person in charge and the owner of the vessel be not both punished in respect of the same offence.
