Faster indicators of transport activity

The department monitors transport activity on a timelier basis for topical issues relating to transport.

  • Daily domestic transport use by mode - daily indexed indicators of usage since January 2020

  • Developing faster indicators - timely indicators monitoring developing transport-related events, currently including:

    • practical car driving tests in Great Britain (no longer published by DfT)
    • large goods vehicle vocational testing in Great Britain (no longer published by DfT)
    • electric vehicle public charging devices available in the UK

In line with previous announcements regarding Driver and Rider Testing Statistics, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) have now assumed responsibility for producing data on driving tests and instructors. Previous and final versions of this release published by DfT, up to December 2024, are still available.

Subsequent reporting of these data will be picked up in an alternative format by DVSA on their collection pages. Dates of future publications can be found on DVSA’s forthcoming publications page.
