The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Ronald Hull Jnr. Limited.

Regulated facility type
This variation is principally to add a waste operation activity to an existing installation permit and to broaden the list of waste that can be accepted at the facility. The site is a metal recycling operation that includes baling, gas cutting, shearing, magnetic sorting, air blower sorting, hand sorting and shredding of up to 295,000 tonnes per annum of metal wastes.
The facility currently comprises:
• A section S5.4 A(1) (b) (iv) - metal shredding installation with capacity exceeding 75 tonnes per day.
• A manual vehicle storage, depollution, and dismantling operation.
• A WEEE storage and treatment operation.
• A metal recycling operation; and
• Storage of furnace ready scrap.
The new activities proposed are storage of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, pending removal to a permitted recycling or disposal site. There are no changes to the site’s operating hours.
