Details

Decision made by the Charity Commission on 5 September 2003.

The commission reconsidered its rejection of the organisation’s application to register as a charity. It concluded that with revised objects in line with the Spiritualists’ National Union, the organisation would be established for exclusively charitable purposes and so could be registered as a charity.

This decision is significant because it considers whether spiritualism falls within the charitable definition of religion and is for public benefit.
