Since February 2018 the UK has led in advocating improved global standards and performance on safeguarding against sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment (SEAH) in international aid. This included hosting an international Safeguarding Summit in October 2018. At the summit 22 donors made commitments to bring about 4 long-term strategic shifts to prevent SEAH linked to implementing international development projects, and to improve the response when cases occur.

This progress report summarises the FCDO’s work between October 2020 and October 2021 to meet the 2018 donor commitments. It also summarises progress by the FCDO and other relevant UK government departments in meeting the September 2020 UK Safeguarding Strategy objectives.
