This summary concerns a fire on the long liner Shark while 74 miles west-north-west of Malin Head and the sinking of the gill netter Royalist 180 miles west-north-west of Dingle, Ireland.

It was decided to combine the results of the investigations into a single document to better illustrate concern over several common safety issues.

The information has been prepared for the:

An investigation report has been produced for these accidents.
