These two reviews were commissioned by the Office for Product Safety and Standards from Mott MacDonald and London Economics. The first studies certain safety risks associated with large domestic appliances (LDAs) connected to the internet and suggests mitigating measures. The second assesses the potential for connected technologies to improve safety in LDAs. The scope of both extended to cookers, dishwashers, fridge / freezers, tumble dryers and washing machines. They involved stakeholder consultation with experts representing consumer organisations, first responders, appliance manufacturers, and standards or regulatory bodies.
