Details
The Home Office is to invest up to £150,000 in innovation projects to develop a metal detector that works in fast parcel depots.
The aim of this competition is to fund the development of techniques for detecting the metal in threat items including firearms, their components and ammunition. The system must activate an alarm. The device should be suitable for use with the conveyor belts used at fast parcel depots.
Proposals should either:
- modify existing equipment to activate an alarm when threat items are detected
- develop novel techniques that will activate an alarm when threat items are detected
We expect projects to range in size from total costs of £30,000 to £50,000 (excluding VAT). All contracts must be completed by 31 March 2017.
If you are a business, you can carry out the project on your own or you can work with others via subcontracts.
The competition opens on 19 September 2016.
