Details of the application
Scampston Farming Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Application reference number NPS/WR/038833 (if granted licence number NE/027/0027/047) is for a full licence to abstract water from Ashwood Drain at Scampston, North Yorkshire between National Grid References (NGRs) SE 85335 75959 and SE 83112 77248. The application is to abstract water as follows: 55 cubic metres an hour, 600 cubic metres a day, 25,000 cubic metres a year (between April and October). The water will be used for spray irrigation. Further details: all abstraction will be supported by a discharge into the Ashwood Drain from the existing licence NE/027/0027/017.
Application reference number NPS/WR/038831 is to vary licence serial number NE/027/0027/017 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata Sands and Gravels at Scampston, North Yorkshire at National Grid Reference SE 85606 76085. The variation being to: Increase abstraction to 25,000 cubic metres per year (with no change to the maximum hourly and daily abstraction rates) for the new purpose of transfer for subsequent discharge (for re-abstraction under proposed new licence NE/027/0027/047).
Application reference number NPS/WR/037266 is to vary licence serial number NE/027/0027/018 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata Sands and Gravels at West Knapton, North Yorkshire at NGRs SE 86528 76904, SE 86619 76834 and SE 86695 76706. The variation being to: Increase abstraction by 12,000 cubic metres per year (with no change to the maximum hourly and daily abstraction rates) for a new purpose of general agriculture all year abstraction.
All applications - The current licences 2/27/27/153, NE/027/0027/017 and NE/027/0027/018 are subject to an aggregate of 50,000 cubic metres per year, this aggregate will increase to 80,000 cubic metres per year for the purpose of spray irrigation and include the proposed new licence NE/027/0027/047.
