Triennial review of Defra’s Science Advisory Council

Details

The Cabinet Office requires Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) to be reviewed every 3 years by their parent department. The triennial review of Defra’s Science Advisory Council (SAC) was launched on 25 March 2014.

The review of SAC concluded that an advisory NPDB is the most appropriate form to deliver SAC’s functions. It is the only model which can deliver these functions independently and transparently, with the right governance, and level of expertise.

This report includes a full assessment of the bodies’ compliance with the Cabinet Office principles of good corporate governance.
