The ‘Secure National Insurance number allocation process’ (SNAP) guide is used by DWP staff who allocate National Insurance numbers (NINos).

We have replaced some information in the guide with a series of letters X – as we would if it was published in response to a freedom of information request. This is because there are some exemptions to the right of access to information.
