The defence industry is vital to the UK economy, contributing over £22 billion of annual revenues and is the number 1 exporter of defence equipment and services in Europe and second worldwide. However technologies and our customers needs are changing, and competition is fierce.
This strategic vision sets out a programme of work developed jointly between government and senior business leaders across the industry. It builds on the UK’s strengths in air capabilities and intelligent systems, along with a strong focus on international business, technology and enterprise. It aims to support these through a highly skilled workforce, with a competitive and diverse supply chain.
With government and industry working in partnership we are aiming for a truly competitive, sustainable, and globally successful UK defence sector. This will support the UK armed forces and the international customer, and bring wider economic benefits to the UK.
