The Security Industry Authority is a non-departmental public body established in April 2003 under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and operational from April 2004. Its remit is to regulate the private security industry and to raise standards throughout the sector. This report covers the work of the Authority during the year 2005-06, its second year of operation, during which period the voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme was introduced.

This paper was laid before Parliament in response to a legislative requirement or as a Return to an Address and was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons.
