Details

This review of the Security Vetting Appeals Panel (SVAP) was carried out by Sir Alex Allan as part of the Cabinet Office’s triennial review programme for non-departmental public bodies. It was announced by the Minister for the Cabinet Office by written ministerial statement on 4 July 2013.

The review’s terms of reference can be summarised as follows:

  • to challenge the continuing need for SVAP, both in its function and its form
  • to review the control and governance arrangements of the SVAP if it is agreed that SVAP should continue as an NDPB
