This prison service instruction (PSI) and probation instruction (PI) outlines the security vetting process for all people working in or for the prison and probation services. This includes:
- headquarters
- public and private prisons
- escort and electronic monitoring contractors
- attendance centres
- community rehabilitation companies and other service providers
It includes guidance on the various vetting levels and the types of checks required.
It covers pre-employment checks, renewals, changes in vetting level and transfers between government departments.
This is a current PSI and PI. It came into effect on 1 June 2014 and was last updated on 2 June 2014.
