This guidance provides good practice for the forensic medical examination carried out routinely at designated sexual assault examination facilities.

It includes guidance on healthcare practitioner competence, examination facility requirements and collection of information, items and samples for scientific analysis.

The guidance supports the standard and requirements set out in ‘FSR C 116 Sexual Assault Examination: requirements for the assessment, collection and recording of forensic science related evidence’.
