Baroness Shields left her position as Minister for Internet Safety and Security at the Home Office in June 2017.

Non Executive Chairman, CognitionX

Baroness Shields sought the Committee’s advice about taking up a position as a Non Executive Chairman of CognitionX, a provider of research and personalised advice on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

The letter containing the Committee’s consideration and the conditions imposed on the appointment was sent in May 2018 and the appointment was taken up in June 2018.

Commissioner, Transatlantic Commission on Election Integrity

Baroness Shields sought the Committee’s advice about becoming a Commissioner at the newly formed Transatlantic Commission on Election Integrity.

The letter containing the Committee’s consideration and the conditions imposed on the appointment was sent in May 2018 and the appointment was announced the same month.

Chief Executive Officer, Benevolent AI

Baroness Shields sought the Committee’s advice about taking up an appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Benevolent AI, which describes itself as a world leader in the development and application of artificial intelligence for scientific innovation.

The letter containing the Committee’s consideration and the conditions imposed on the appointment was sent in April 2018. The appointment was announced in May 2018.
