People with criminal records granted door supervision licences with were then revoked due to further criminality
Updated 11 May 2023
1. Request
[This request follows on from a previous request: FOI 0401, ‘SIA door supervisor applications and revocations since 2017’]
I wish to know how many individuals who had their SIA door supervisor licence revoked in the past 5 years also had a criminal record (when their licence was approved).
2. Response
I can confirm that the SIA does hold this information.
This is a count of revocations by calendar year and the calendar year refers to the date when the licence was revoked. This criminality may have been self-disclosed, referenced as part of the vetting source criminality check or picked up by an overseas criminality check.
The count is also by number of licences a licence holder has – so a licence holder who has both their close protection and door supervision licence revoked is recorded as 2 revocations.
The majority of these cases are categorised as ‘Not Relevant (Met)’ criminality, where an applicant has a criminal record that is not deemed relevant to their application for an SIA licence.
Calendar year | Revocations with licence holder criminality at application |
---|---|
2017 | 229 |
2018 | 209 |
2019 | 171 |
2020 | 194 |
2021 | 200 |
2022 | 176 |
2023 | 66 |
